Walk Thru Time

Project Description

I live one block away from Madison Square Park, and I have grown to love it. Some things that were started/invented here include: the ASPCA, the Manhattan cocktail, the suffragette movement, and modern baseball rules... At the same time, I really hate history. I had too many bad teachers in school who taught a long list of dates and names. So, with this project, I want to create a journey for students. They can travel backwards and forwards in time, and learn about Madison Square Park's history

Challenges that this project applies to

Wouldn’t it be cool to have an app that provides a description of key attractions along your city tour? This challenge enables you to build an application that can be used by tourists to find city attractions and easily identify them using your phone. While on your tour, use your camera and the app overlays an annotation of that key attraction to provide you with useful information (i.e. TomTom Museum of Art). You can use Maps SDKs for Android and iOS in combination with TomTom Online services to create a custom app. The TomTom Maps APIs and SDKs (for Web/JavaScript, Android, iOS) are available on http://developer.tomtommaps.com and can be used for free once you create an account.

Technologies used by this project

JavaScript is a high-level, dynamic, untyped, and interpreted programming language used for building client-side applications for modern web browsers and hybrid mobile applications, as well server-side applications, like those running with Node.js.
